RONALD McDONALD JUNE 2, 1916 - ONALASKA, WASHINGTON SEPTEMBER 21, 1986 - PORTLAND, OREGON
Upon completing his schooling he went to work in the logging industry. Mr. McDonald worked for many years for the Oregon-American Logging Company and logged for himself for several years. He was united in marriage to Ruby Smith on February 10, 1940 at Vancouver, Washington. They celebrated their 46th Year Wedding Anniversary this past February. Following their marriage they made their home on the Rock Creek, near Keasey where they have resided since.
Mr. McDonald was a member of the Vernonia Grange #305. Among his special interests he enjoyed raising cattle. He also had a special love for the outdoors, especially enjoying hunting and fishing.He died Sunday afternoon, September 21, 1986 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, following a heart attack at his home in Vernonia. Survivors include his wife Ruby, of the family home in Vernonia, Oregon; one son, Lanny R. McDonald, of Vernonia, Oregon; three brothers, Delmer McDonald, of Pendleton, Oregon; Charles McDonald, of Yamhill, Oregon; and Robert McDonald of Powers, Oregon; and one sister, Celeste Poetter, of Vernonia, Oregon. Also surviving are three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Vernonia Volunteer Ambulance Association, 755 Madison, Vernonia, Oregon 97064, or to the Vernonia Fire Department, 555 E. Bridge Street, Vernonia, Oregon 97064, in his memory.
